Rams looking good after all-round effort

03 Nov, 2009 03:00 AM
RINGWOOD is in the box seat to defeat St Kilda in their Victorian Premier Cricket encounter at the Junction Oval.

The Rams bowled St Kilda out for just 159 on Saturday. The wickets were evenly spread, with Michael King and Steven Gilmour taking three wickets. Drew McKay and Daniel King also chipped in, taking two wickets.

At one stage, the Rams had the Saints in trouble at 4-38. However, some solid batting from Mitchell Sykes (65) ensured there was some respectability on the scoreboard. Kieran O'Connor (35) and Adam Warren (21) also made useful contributions.

Ringwood's innings got off to a disappointing start with Matthew King back in the pavilion without scoring.

However, the Rams eventually got their innings back on track, finishing on 2-70 at stumps.

Key batsman Tom Stray (40 not out) will be looking to build on his solid start when play resumes on Saturday.
