THE All Nations Cup, claimed by organisers Knox City Soccer Club, to be one of Victoria's biggest multi-cultural sporting events, will see 12 teams competing for $5000 over six weeks.
The first tournament was held in 1984, since when the event has grown to be a major six-week long soccer event. Play starts this Saturday at the city's Egan Lee headquarters.
After the round-robin group stage, the best eight teams will progress to the knockout quarter-final stage. Games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays up to and including the quarter-final stage.
The semi-final and final will be played on Sundays, December 6 and 13. Round-robin games will be played over two 35-minute halves. The quarter-finals and beyond will be of two 45-minute halves.
The seeded teams are last year's winner, Scotland, the runner-up, Australia, and one of the beaten semi-finalists, Serbia.
The groups are:
* Group 1: Scotland, Montenegro, Bosnia and Portugal.
* Group 2: Australia, Romania, India and Seychelles.
* Group 3: Serbia, Mauritius, Albania and Ireland.
Week One fixtures: Saturday: noon: Bosnia v Portugal; 1.30pm: Scotland v Montenegro; 3pm: Seychelles v India.
Sunday: 12.45pm: Australia v Romania; 2.15pm: Serbia v Mauritius; 3.45pm Albania v Ireland.
